Overview
The UCSF Department of Neurology is proud to have multiple fellowship opportunities in a variety of adult and pediatric neurology specialties. This community of fellows represents diverse backgrounds and a variety of professional goals. The excellence of our research and clinical faculty and the variety of our training sites allows us to provide outstanding clinical training and research opportunities for fellows. UCSF's neurology departments consistently receives some of the highest level of funding from the National Institutes of Health. Collaboration with the Neuroscience graduate program allows for an extensive network of research mentors available to fellows. Our strong relationships with other departments, including Neurosurgery, Medicine, Pediatrics and Psychiatry, provide unique opportunities for cross-departmental clinical work and research in the pursuit of advancing the neurosciences. Fellows interested in a role as educator can work with excellent residents and students, and can engage in coursework and mentorship from the Center for Faculty Educators at UCSF.
Fellows Forum
The Fellows Forum is a program run by the Vice Chair of Education which is designed to bring together Neurology fellows in all training programs to build community and share resources. Trainees benefit from the connections made at all-fellows orientation, quarterly educational meetings and wellness events. All-Fellows graduation has become a highlight of the year for fellows and their program directors, families and friends. Fellow representatives join the Neurology Education Committee to participate in the educational goals of the department and represent the common interest of the fellowships in decision making.

Outreach and Community Building
The UCSF Neurology Fellowship programs are committed to building a broadly diverse community, nurturing a culture that is inclusive, and engaging diverse ideas for the provision of culturally competent education, discovery, and patient care to serve the needs of our diverse state. We recognize that to advance health and remediate health disparities, we must develop a workforce of future health and science leaders that can solve complex problems in an increasingly diverse world. We seek to educate learners from all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, beliefs, abilities and perspectives. The exclusion of diverse groups and perspectives from health care has contributed to significant health disparities, impeding our ability to achieve health equity for all communities. We seek fellows with a desire to serve culturally diverse and medically underserved populations and those committed to working on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. These opportunities are open to all without preference or prejudice.
