Headache Fellowship

The UCSF Headache Center and the UCSF Child & Adolescent Headache Program are seeking fellows for a one year UCNS accredited Headache Medicine Fellowship Program. The Adult Headache and Child & Adolescent Headache program have openings available for a start date of July 1, 2024.

Adult headache fellow training: The Headache Center has a comprehensive program of inpatient and outpatient headache management. The fellowship will encompass clinical management of adult and pediatric patients with variety of headache disorders. Pharmacological, behavioral, and injection techniques are taught and practiced. Interdisciplinary training is also done in conjunction with the UCSF Pain Medicine Center, the UCSF Pediatric Headache Clinic, and the UCSF Orofacial Pain Center. The Fellow directs the monthly UCSF Headache Medicine Journal Club, and will participate in clinical research projects and clinical trials. Fellows are brought in as junior faculty at the Instructor level and are actively engaged in teaching neurology residents and UCSF medical students. Educational objectives will be augmented with sponsored attendance at regional and/or national Headache Society meetings.

Pediatric headache fellow training: Fellows will participate in both inpatient and outpatient treatment of headache disorders in children and adolescents. They will also have the opportunity to rotate in the adult headache clinic and gain exposure to procedures. Fellows will lead journal clubs and participate in monthly team meetings and research meetings, and will participate in clinical research. There are opportunities to teach medical students and residents.

Interested candidates must have completed an accredited residency in Neurology or Child Neurology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, or Anesthesiology, and be eligible for a California medical license.
