Headache Medicine Fellowship

Headache Fellowship

The UCSF Headache Center and the UCSF Child & Adolescent Headache Program are seeking fellows for a one year UCNS accredited Headache Medicine Fellowship Program. The Adult Headache and Child & Adolescent Headache program have openings available for a start date of July 1, 2025.

Adult headache fellow training: The UCSF Headache Center offers both inpatient and outpatient headache medicine care. The fellowship encompasses management of adult patients with a variety of headache disorders. Pharmacological, nonpharmacological, behavioral, and injection techniques are taught and practiced. Interdisciplinary training is also done in conjunction with the UCSF Pain Medicine Center, the UCSF Pediatric Headache Center, and the UCSF Otoneurologic and Orofacial Pain groups. Following completion of their NBME board examination in September, our fellow begins leading the team in monthly Journal Club meetings and will get a chance to participate in new or ongoing clinical research projects. Fellows are brought in as junior faculty, at the Instructor level, and have the opportunity to engage in teaching neurology residents and UCSF medical students. Sponsored attendance at 1 regional and/or national Headache Society meeting is provided.

Pediatric headache fellow training: Fellows will participate in both inpatient and outpatient treatment of headache disorders in children and adolescents. They will also have the opportunity to rotate in the adult headache clinic and gain exposure to procedures. Fellows will lead journal clubs and participate in monthly team meetings and research meetings, and will participate in clinical research. There are opportunities to teach medical students and residents.
